For the First Time in Ukraine, Thoracic Aortic Arthroplasty with a Stent-Graft was Performed in a Child
It is not the first time that doctors of the Heart Institute together with colleagues from Kovel Regional Hospital save the patient’s heart through joint efforts in Kovel.
This time a 16-year-old boy with a rupture of the thoracic aorta is the patient.
The head of the Department of Angiography and Endovascular Surgery at the Heart Institute Andriy Khokhlov together with a team of specialists- Oleksandr Holub, Oles Kyrylo, Andriy Huska – performed a stent-graft endoprosthesis at the Kovel Regional Hospital. They fought for the patient’s life for 3.5 hours. The operation was successful. Currently, the boy is in a stable condition in the intensive care unit and is feeling well.
This is the first such operation performed on a child in Ukraine!
