Surgery to Remove Acute Thrombosis

On June 6, 2020, a surgery to remove acute thrombosis from the common iliac vein was performed at the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. With this disease, the patient can very quickly be at risk of massive pulmonary embolism.
The patient complained of acute pain in the left lower extremity, redness, and swelling. After examination, the floating thrombosis of the left iliac segment was diagnosed. It was decided to urgently take the patient to the operating room.
During surgery, a 20 cm long floating thrombus was removed from the common iliac vein. The patient was discharged on the fifth day and is currently feeling well.
