Under support of the Pakistani Embassy in Ukraine, Director of the Heart Institute Borys Todurov and Head of the Department of Acquired Heart Diseases of the Heart Institute Igor Mokryk visited Pakistan.
It was the 25th transplant performed by Prof. Borys Todurov and his team. 15 of them were performed at the Institute, 10 – in other regions of Ukraine.
This case was unique because, for the first time in Ukraine, the transplantation of two organs took place simultaneously. Everything went well. The patient is Vsevolod, a 52-year-old resident of Kyiv who has been on hemodialysis for the past 16 years because of kidney failure.
Tonight, our doctors performed another heart transplant. Step by step heart transplantation is becoming the norm in Ukraine and we are very proud of it.
The conference covered the most modern aspects of interventional arrhythmology and medical treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. More than 800 doctors of various specialties from all regions of Ukraine registered to participate in the conference.
In January 2021, the Institute was visited by a 53-year-old patient for a routine examination after aortic valve grafting in 2002. He complained of shortness of breath during exercise, which has increased over the past 6 months.
On November 9-12, 2021, specialists from the Heart Institute performed operations at the Research Institute of Heart Surgery and Organ Transplantation in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
The fifth heart transplant of this month took place tonight at the Heart Institute. It was difficult because the patient has already undergone more than one heart operation. In 2004, he underwent implantation of an aortic valve prosthesis at the Institute, but 17 years later he needed a transplant. The operation lasted 1.5 hours, everything went well.
The Heart Institute is a scientific institution. It is a pleasure to note the fact that the research work carried out within the walls of the Institute is gaining worldwide recognition and our doctors are invited to speak at the world’s leading scientific forums.
