TAVI Performed on 80-Year-Old Patient after COVID-19
Recently, the head of the Department of Angiography and Endovascular Surgery Andriy Khokhlov and a team of doctors performed transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) at the Heart Institute.
The complexity of the situation was that the elderly patient was 80 years old, also, the patient was diagnosed with COVID-19. As a result, it was decided to postpone the intervention. According to the recommendations, planned surgical interventions for such patients are performed within 7 weeks after recovery. But 3 days after the negative PCR test, the patient was admitted to the intensive care unit with deterioration. Therefore, it was decided to immediately perform TAVI with implanted valve Evolut R 29.
