In practice, the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine sometimes has extremely difficult cases when patients have only one chance at life. And we use all the possibilities of our Institute to save them.
A 69-year-old patient from Kharkiv was diagnosed with multifocal atherosclerosis and a combined aortic defect with a predominance of stenosis.

From the point of view of traditional cardiac surgery, a patient with this diagnosis was in a zone of high risk of surgical intervention.
Hemodynamically significant coronary artery stenoses were stented in the previous hospitalization. Narrowing of 90% and tortuosity of the internal carotid artery were complicated with neurological symptoms.
Therefore, a collegial decision to perform endarterectomy of the internal carotid (carotid) artery and TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation) was made by specialists of the Institute: Borys Todurov, Gavril Kovtun, Andriy Khokhlov, Oksana Pantazy.

Endarterectomy, as the first stage, was performed by the team: Oleg Zelenchuk and Maxim Taranov, the second stage was performed by the TAVI team: Andriy Khokhlov, Oleg Zelenchuk, Yana Antonyuk. Operating nurses: Anna Gaivoronskaya, Julia Motko.
The patient was discharged in good condition 5 days after the procedure.
