Endovascular Closure of Paravalvular Fistula of Aortic Valve

November, 15, 2021

In January 2021, the Institute was visited by a 53-year-old patient for a routine examination after aortic valve grafting in 2002. He complained of shortness of breath during exercise, which has increased over the past 6 months. After performing ECHO-CG, paravalvular aortic insufficiency with BW-240 was detected.

The patient was offered and planned to perform a minimally invasive procedure – to close the paravalvular fistula. A few months later, the patient was hospitalized at the Heart Institute for a routine procedure. On repeated ECHO-CG – progression (increase) of valvular aortic insufficiency. The procedure was successful. The patient was implanted with 3 Occlutech PLD occluders and then discharged in satisfactory condition.
