Tiny Heart Has Been Saved
Little Milana was born prematurely, at 24 weeks of pregnancy, with an extremely low body weight – only 600 grams, and also with a congenital heart defect – an open ductus arteriosus, which usually closes after the birth of a child during the first days of life. If it is not closed in time and is large, the child cannot breathe on its own. The baby was treated in the Rivne maternity hospital for two weeks so that she would grow up a little.
Milanka was on artificial lung ventilation. When her weight reached 800 grams, the pediatric doctors of the Heart Institute, in order to save time and avoid stress for the child, went to the Rivne maternity hospital, where she underwent an open surgical operation. Nothing threatens life of the baby anymore. After timely intervention, such babies usually grow and develop well.
