On December 17, 2019, specialists of the Heart Institute took part in the scientific and practical conference at the Medical Institute of Sumy State University. After the conference, doctors of the Heart Institute held a consultative reception of patients and conducted a master-class on the diagnosis of congenital and acquired heart defects.
November 28, 2019, at the Heart Institute, a Scientific and practical conference with international participation “The role of laboratory research in modern cardiac surgery and cardiology” was held.
26 November 2019, at the Heart Institute a team of specialists led by the Director of the Institute Professor Borys Todurov implanted a mini-mechanical heart to a 22-year-old patient from Mykolayiv with a diagnosis of dilated cardiomyopathy. The operation was successful.
A significant event for cardiologists, arrhythmologists, cardiac surgeons, specialists in related specialties was the XI scientific-practical conference with international participation “Arrhythmology Days in Kiev”, which took place on November 21-22, 2019 at the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
The 3rd International Conference “Reconstructive Heart Surgery”, co-sponsored by the Heart Institute, was held with great success at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kyiv on October 24-25, 2019.
On October 22, 2019, at the Heart Institute, for the first time in Ukraine, a mechanical heart of the new generation was implanted – Medtronic Heart Ware 2 which is one of the most widely used Left Ventricular Assistance Devices (LVAD) in the world.
On September 28, 2019, a momentous event for everyone who has relation to transplantology took place in Ukraine – a group of about thirty Ukrainians with transplanted organs conquered the highest peak of Ukraine – Gorverla. Specialists of the Heart Institute participated in this action.
On August 15, 2019, two patients met at the Heart Institute during a routine examination, to both of them, Professor Borys Todurov implanted mechanical hearts in the fall of 2018 – 47-year-old Vasyl Pavlyuk from Ternopil region and 42-year-old Denis Volkov from Odesa.
July 25, 2019, the world’s smallest pacemaker Micra Medtronic was implanted at the Heart Institute of Heart of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine to the patients from Kyiv (67 years old) and Sumy (56 years old) diagnosed with a permanent form of atrial fibrillation, a bradysystolic variant.
5 – 20 June 2019, courses on “Treatment of patients before and after cardiac surgery” were conducted on the basis of the Kozyatyn Central District Hospital, with the participation of specialists from the Heart Institute as teachers.
