Heart Transplantation in Poltava, Kidney and Liver Transplantations – at the Heart Institute
The 25th successful heart transplant for this year took place in cooperation with our colleagues from the Poltava Regional Hospital named after Sklifosovsky. This time, our team saved as many as four lives.
The team led by Gavrila Kovtun performed a successful heart transplant in Poltava.
The liver and two kidneys were brought to the Heart Institute, and the team headed by Mykhailo Zagrychuk transplanted the organs to patients on the waiting list.
We worked again with our good friends – colleagues from the First Medical Association of Lviv, headed by Oleg Samchuk, from whom we are gaining experience in liver transplantation – thank you!
A Poltava resident’s life was tragically cut short due to a road accident. The doctors fought for him for a whole week, but unfortunately, brain death occurred, which meant there was no chance of recovery. But his life, thanks to the courageous decision of the family, continued in four people.
