Professional Seminar School on Diagnostics of Myocardial Ischemia and Revascularization
On May 23, 2023, a professional seminar school “Methods of diagnostics of myocardial ischemia. Indications for coronary angiography and revascularization” was held at the Heart Institute. More than 420 doctors of various specialties pre-registered to participate in the event. The school was registered as an official event for the continuous development of doctors on the website of the Testing Center at the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. The event was held in a hybrid format under the auspices of the Heart Institute and the Shupyk National University of Health Care of Ukraine.
In his welcome speech, the Director of the Heart Institute, Professor Borys Todurov, noted the importance of introducing modern educational programs in highly specialized aspects of cardiology, interventional cardiology, cardiac surgery, and related specialties. This is the reason behind the initiative of the Institute and the departments of the Shupyk National University of Health Care of Ukraine regarding the systematic joint holding of events with the continuous professional development of doctors.
The topics of the first such event included modern approaches to diagnosing myocardial ischemia, determination of the feasibility of coronary angiography and revascularization, methods of interventions in patients with acute and chronic coronary syndromes, and features of the treatment of patients after revascularization interventions. The program of the seminar school was mainly based on European and American recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of acute coronary syndromes and revascularization interventions.
The lecturers were leading experts in interventional cardiology – heads of specialized departments of the Shalimov National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology and the Heart Insitute: Professor Serhiy Furkalo and Ph.D. Andrii Khokhlov. A lot of attention was paid to the aspects of diagnostics and determining the need for revascularization. The Head of the Department of Functional Diagnostics, Professor Oleg Zharinov, Associate Professor Viktor Kuts, and assistant Nataliya Lifantiyeva highlighted these aspects in their presentations.
Within two days after the seminar school, the participants could answer the test questions prepared by the lecturers and receive an electronic certificate on continuous professional development. The full recording of the seminar school is available on the YouTube channel.
