On November 20, 2020, the sixth heart transplant in Ukraine in 11 months took place in Lviv. The transplant was performed by prof. Borys Todurov with a team of doctors of the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine together with Lviv colleagues led by Oleh Samchuk, Clinical Hospital of Emergency Medicine of Lviv.
On November 19-20, 2020, the XII scientific-practical online conference with international participation “Days of Arrhythmology in Kyiv” took place on the basis of the Department of Functional Diagnostics of the Heart Institute. The topics of this year’s conference covered the most modern aspects of interventional arrhythmology and medical treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.
On October 30, 2020, the sixth annual registered scientific-practical online conference “Current Issues of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery” took place at the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
On October 19, 2020, at the Heart Institute, Kyiv, the first stage of the endovascular prosthesis of critical aortic valve stenosis (TAVR) was performed in a 56-year-old patient from Kryvyi Rih who was preparing for a liver transplant because of liver cirrhosis.
A two-chamber pacemaker was implanted in a 28-year-old pregnant patient with a diagnosis of transient AV-blockade of the third degree at the Heart Institute.
Back in 2015, the patient was diagnosed with a first-degree AV blockade. Being at 8 weeks of pregnancy, the patient’s condition worsened.
Five patients, Vasyl from Zakarpattia, Viktor from Kyiv, Petro from Zhytomyr Region, Vasyl from Chernivtsi, Sviatoslav from Kyiv received donor hearts from December 2019 to August 2020 in Ukraine! Four of them gathered in the Heart Institute recently.
13-year-old Diana entered the pediatric department of the Heart Institute with a very rare and life-threatening pathology – a pre-coartic aneurysm of the aortic arch.
The pathology was diagnosed by accident during a routine X-ray examination at the place of residence. After further research, the diagnosis was confirmed.
This is the fifth heart transplant in Ukraine in the last 8 months and the second at the Lviv Ambulance Hospital.
The heart was received by a 45-year-old patient from Chernivtsi, whose own heart was so affected by pneumonia with complications (ejection fraction – 11 – critically low) that required immediate transplantation.
A 58-year-old patient with an acute myocardial infarction complicated by rupture of the interventricular septum of the heart was admitted to the Heart Institute, Kyiv.
